1. Counseling Services
DAP staff offers short- and long-term supportive/educational counseling, as well as therapeutic counseling designed to address the emotional barriers that make it difficult to leave an abusive
relationship. DAP counselors also facilitate support groups that provide clients with the opportunity to process their experiences with others confronting domestic abuse. For nearly a decade, DAP has offered a well supervised internship program for undergraduate and graduate students in Social Work and Counseling majors.
2. Hotline Service
DAP staff provide immediate crisis intervention, information and referral on a 24/7 basis. Call 610-565-4590.
3. Housing Services
DAP provides emergency shelter to adults and their dependent children at imminent risk of physical abuse. In addition to safe housing, residents receive a range of supportive
services. DAP's transitional housing program offers longer-term subsidized housing and intensive case management which support families as they seek to become self-sufficient and live free from abuse.
4. Legal Services
DAP provides advocacy and support in filing for temporary Protection From Abuse (PFA) orders and provides representation for clients at permanent PFA hearings. With generous support from Mellon Mid-Atlanic Charitable Trust, DAP attorneys began representation in custody matters in 2007, as well as a related internship program for 3rd year law students. DAP offers accompaniment and advocacy for victims involved in criminal proceedings against their abusers. Members of law enforcement, employed by DAP, train local law enforcement officers on best practices and protocols for handling domestic abuse cases.
5. Medical Advocacy
DAP Medical Advocates are on call 24 hours a day to provide options and crisis counseling to victims of abuse in Delaware County hospitals. Medical Advocates also train local healthcare professionals, from all disciplines, including physicians, to screen patients and recognize the signs of abuse.
6. Welfare Advocacy
DAP's Welfare Advocate provides options, information, and advocacy to victims of domestic abuse within the welfare system and educates welfare personnel about domestic abuse.
7. Prevention Education and Community Outreach
Specialized educational programs are provided to community organizations, schools, and religious groups to increase public awareness about domestic abuse. Literature on domestic abuse is distributed at presentations, health fairs, and other community events.
8. Financial Literacy and Economic Empowerment Programs
Through support by AllState Foundation and AllState Insurance, DAP provides TANF recipients and shelter residents with Financial Literacy Counseling in order to increase their ability to move toward economic self-sufficiency. An enhanced Economic Empowerment Program that offers ongoing training and a heightened financial program for targeted clients of the Agency's Emergency Shelter and Transitional Housing Program is also supported by AllState Foundation and AllState Insurance.
9. Volunteer Program
DAP depends on the support of volunteers. Our volunteers receive extensive training in several specific areas of service and are provided with meaningful ways to help abused persons and prevent domestic abuse.

10. 911 Cell Phone Program
DAP provides cell phones capable of dialing 911 at no cost to DAP clients, through the Verizon Hopeline program. To donate a phone, contact the Verizon dealer in your area.
11. Workplace Violence Program
DAP provides workplace consulting and technical assistance services to local businesses on domestic abuse in the workplace. Supported by the Boeing Employees Community Fund, call 610-565-6272 for more information or to schedule a presentation.
